Sometimes in attempting

to be an old soul

And wise

beyond our years

We can experience

the loss of youth

Gravitating to those

who aren’t our peers

But to adults

who are beyond us

And so in attempting

to fit in

We can lose our sense of identity

Where do others end

And we begin

But once we stop

to realize

there is more than one road

and we have choice

We can choose steps

that lead us back

to our

authentic voice
