Lily, May 2021
Sometimes life can flatten our fluff
And seem to wither our size
Sometimes it feels like we don’t have enough
of the answers to questions that arise
But always to remember
that deep within our bones
Lives the memory of our ancestors
And that we are never alone
We are never separate
from the ones who’ve gone before
the Black Swans of our freedoms
the ones who fought
to hold the door
Hold it open for the passage
to a place of freedom and dreams
So that when it’s time
to replenish our spirits
We can trust in those marrow memories
