An egg can symbolize so many things

a nourishment

a new beginning

Or beautifully decorated

a fragile remembrance

of the depression

and surviving

Generation to generation

from Norway to Canada’s West

this precious family heirloom

found its home

in a china cabinet

Celebrated

at Easter

a centerpiece

for all to see

then ever so gently

returned to rest

in its glassed in home

of safety

Unfortunate how a stranger’s carelessness

Can break such a thing to pieces

But the intention to savour

Cannot be destroyed

Nor forgiveness

For one’s great nieces
